Nancy Silverton

November 2011

Our first event was with Nancy Silverton, co-owner of Osteria Mozza, Pizzeria Mozza, and Mozza2Go in Los Angeles, for her book The Mozza Cookbook. We were delighted to discover that our experiment proved successful, with record crowds and book sales. Ms. Silverton brought down some of her chefs to make incredible handmade burrata on site, and crowds enjoyed samples of the cheese along with different sauces and winter squash crostini.

Ms. Silverton is the founder of the La Brea Bakery and formerly owned and operated Campanile (recipient of the 2001 James Beard Award for Best Restaurant). She is the author of A Twist of the Wrist, Nancy Silverton’s Sandwich Book, Nancy Silverton’s Pastries from the La Brea Bakery (recipient of a 2000 Food & Wine Best Cookbook Award), Nancy Silverton’s Breads from the La Brea Bakery, and Desserts.

Alice Waters

December 2011

Our event with the legendary Alice Waters was a huge success, selling a record number of copies of her book, 40 Years of Chez Panisse, and bringing together the Southern California culinary community. Ms. Waters graciously signed all books sold, plus book plates once we sold out out. Alice and the Chino family have enjoyed a 35-year relationship, making this event even more special.

John Bottaro of Bottaro Pizza brought his mobile pizza oven and guests were able to sample pizza made with fresh toppings from the farm. The delicious pizza, along with glasses of Prosecco, helped ease the pain of the long signing line.
